Yet another suitor will be on the street roaming here and there with a lot of anxiety.

athanAlE oruvarukku oruvar sakkaLamaiyil charuva vittu uruvu paththiram eduththu aRaiyil mal puriya vittu uyir pizhaippathu karuththu aLavil ucchitham ena se(y)yum mAnAr: Because of these acts, they play one suitor against the other creating jealousy and rancour, sometimes drawing the sword from the sheath and sometimes wrestling in their room. Some suitors, on a second thought, are grateful to have been spared their lives; such thoughts are caused by these whores.

tharum mayal pramai thanil thava neRikku ayal ena chariyaiyil kiriyaiyil thavamum atRu enathu kai thanam avaththinil iRaiththu evarum utRu ikazhvuRa thirivEnai: Because of the passionate desires aroused by them, I trangressed the righteous path of penance, lacking the discipline to perform the sariyai and kiriyai* functions and forsaking good conduct; and I squandered away all my savings in wasteful expenses and became the laughing stock of the town, jeered at by one and all.

chakala thukkamum aRa chakala saR kuNam vara tharaNiyil pukazh peRa thakaimai petRu unathu pon charaNam eppozhuthu natpodu ninainthida aruL tharuvAyE: To remove all kinds of miseries that afflict me and to enable me to acquire all the virtues along with fame in this world, I have to earn my respect by contemplating with love, Your hallowed feet at all times; for that, kindly bless me graciously, Oh Lord!

kuru mozhi thavam udai pulavarai siRaiyil vaiththu aRavum ukkiram viLaiththidum arakkarai muzhu kodiya thurkkuNa avaththarai muthal thurisu aRuththidum vElA: The demons imprisoned and tortured the celestials who used to implicitly follow the word of their Master Brahaspathi and remained in the right path. Those demons were a total waste possessing utterly vicious attributes, and they were punished for their earlier crimes by being severed by Your spear, Oh Lord!

kuyil mozhi kayal vizhi thukir ithazh chilai nuthal sasi mukaththu iLa nakai kana kuzhal thana kiri kodi idai pidi nadai kuRa makaL thiruvinai puNarvOnE: She has a speech sweet like that of the cuckoo; eyes like the kayal fish; lips like the coral; forehead like a bow; and face like the moon. She wears a broad smile; Her hair is like the dark cloud; Her breasts are mountain-like; Her waist is slender like the creeper; Her gait is like that of the she-elephant; and She is VaLLi, the damsel of the KuRavAs, and You hug her tightly, Oh Lord!

karuthu sat samayikatku amaivuRa kiRi udai paRi thalai chamaNarai kula muthal podipada kalakamittu udal uyir kazhuvin ucchiyinil vaiththiduvOnE: Those chamaNAS possessed the treachery that could knock down research scholars of the six religions; they were notorious in plucking the hair off their head; their entire lineage was smashed and decimated when You conquered them in debates and sent their bodies alive to the sharp gallows (coming as ThirugnAna Sambandhar), Oh Lord!

kamukinin kulai aRa kathaliyin kani uka kazhaiyin muththu uthira kayal kuthiththu ulavu nal kana vayal thikazh thiru karapuraththu aRumuka perumALE.: Bunches of betelnuts fall from the trees on plantain trees knocking down clusters of plantain fruits which in turn shake the sugarcanes felling pearls on the waterfront in the fields where kayal fish jump about playing in this town, Thirukkarapuram (Virinjipuram); and You are seated here, Oh Six-faced Lord, the Great One!

  * The four methods of worship are:

1.  sariyai:  Worship through service in temples such as doing penance, washing the floor, lighting the lamps, maintaining the flower garden, plucking the flowers for offering, making of garlands, singing of hymns, decorating the deities etc. This is known as 'dhAdha mArgam - sAlOkam'.

2.  kiriyai:  Worship, both inwardly and externally, of a God with a form through daily offerings (pUjA) and with several pUjA materials. This is called 'puthra mArgam - sameepam'.

3.  yOgam:  Inward worship only of a formless God by control of senses, holding the oxygen in the inhaled air and letting it through the six centres of 'kuNdalini chakrA' after understanding each state fully, experiencing the flow of nectar in the 'Lunar zone' between the eyebrows and letting it seep throughout the body and meditating on the full effulgence. This is 'sakha mArgam - sArUbam'.

4.  gnAnam:  Ceasing all external and internal activities, this method consists of worshipping through the medium of intellect alone, seeking the True Knowledge. This is 'san mArgam - sAyujyam'.
