arumA mathanaip piriyAtha saram: Like the arrows that never leave the hands of the unique and handsome Manmathan (God of Love) and

kayal Ar nayanak kodiyAr tham: like the kayal fish are the lovely eyes of the taunting whores.

azhaku Ar puLaka puzhuku Ar sayilaththu aNaiyA: I hugged their beautiful, tantalising, sweet-scented, mountain-like bosom;

vali kettu udal thAzA: I lost all my vigour, and my health was shattered.

irumA nadai pukku urai pOy uNarvu atRu: I fell into a coughing spell and lost my speech and sensation.

iLaiyA uLam ukku uyir sOra: I became very thin, my mind was down in the dumps and my life was sinking.
