......... Meaning .........
poRpadhaththinai thudhiththu naRpadhaththil utrabakthar: Many devotees worshipped Your hallowed feet and attained exalted status.
poRpu raiththu nekku rukka aRiyAdhE: I am incapable of praising their greatness with a melting heart;
puththagap pidhatrai vittu viththa gatthunaith thudhikka: nor am I able to give up the bookish blabberings and praise Your glory with true knowledge.
budhdhiyiR kalakka matru ninaiyAdhE: I am not able to think of You with clarity.
muRpadath thalath udhiththu piRpa daiththa kirthyamutri: I came in a hurry to be born in this world, and my later sinful deeds were aplenty.
muRka daith thaviththu niththa muzhalvEnai: I roamed around every day from door to door desperately.
muttavik kadaippiRappin utkidappa dhaith thavirththu: I was totally plunged in this rut of despicable birth. Saving me from this ordeal,
muththi satre nakka Lippa dhoru nALE: will there be a day when You will grant me some liberation?
veRpa Liththa thaRpa raikki dappu Raththai utraLiththa: He willingly gave the left half of His body to the Supreme Mother, the daughter of Mount Himavan.
viththa gaththar petra kotra mayil veerA: He is Pure Consciousness Himself; and You are that SivA's Son, the victorious stalwart mounting the Peacock!
viththai thathva muththamizhsol aththa saththam viththarikku: Tamil language has words of wisdom and truth, in all the three phases of literature, music and drama, whose meaning and sound last eternally (and can be heard) in
meyth thiruththaNip poruppil uRaivOnE: the hills of ThiruththaNigai, which is Your abode!
kaRpagap punak kuRaththi: There is VaLLi, the damsel of the KuRavAs, at the millet-field (in VaLLimalai) with plenty of trees like the wish-yielding KaRpaga;
kachcha darththa chithramutra kaRpurath thiruth thanaththil aNaivOnE: and You hug her lovely bosoms with the fragrance of camphor, and fitted with tight blouses.
kaiththarakkar koththu gachchinaththu: The hostile bunch of demons was driven away by Your rage,
vajranuk amaiththa kaiththozhuth thaRiththu vitta perumALE.: and You broke the shackles into pieces, that were laid (by SUran) on the hands of IndrA, holding the weapon VajrA, Oh Great One!
