இந்த ஆலயம் பிரிட்டிஷ் காலகட்டத்தில் தோட்டத் தொழிலாளர்களால் ஒரு சிறிய குடிலாக அமைக்கப்பட்டு, தமிழர்களின் பிரதான வழிபாட்டுத் தலமாக இருந்துள்ளது. பத்துகவான் மலை மேடுகளின் 'கங்கமலை' என்று அழைக்கப்பட்டுவந்த மலையில், முன்னோர்கள் சிறிய குடில் அமைத்து, வழிபட்டு வந்தனர்.

இவ்வாலயத்தில் ₂₀₀ ஆண்டுக்கும் மேற்பட்ட வரலாற்றைப் பெற்ற வேல் வடிவிலான தாமரைக் குளம் சரவணப்பொய்கை. இங்கு கன்னிகளும் நீராடி மகிழ்ந்துள்ளனர் என்று வரலாறு கூறப்படுகின்றது.

குன்றிருக்கும் இடமெல்லாம் குமரன் இருக்கும் இடமாகும் என்ற நம்பிக்கையில் எம்.டி.ஆர். நிறுவனம், ₁₈ லட்சம் வெள்ளி செலவில் மிகப் பிரம்மாண்டமாகவும், சிறப்பு அம்சங்களைக் கொண்டதாகவும் உருவாக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

இவ்வாலயத்தில் ₃₅ அடி உயரம்கொண்ட முருகன் சிலை, சிறப்பு சேர்க்க ₇₅ அடி உயரம்கொண்ட வேல் ஆகியவை அமைக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது.

பாலதண்டாயுதபாணி ஆலய கும்பாபிஷேகம் _19-2-2016 அன்று நடைபெற்றது.

A short history of this temple:

VetrivEl Murugan thuNai.

Among the hills in Batu Kawan, is a hillock used to be known as 'Ganga Malai'. Here, the temple started in a small hut-like enclosure during the British rule. It was used for worship by the Tamils who were generally plantation workers.

This venue has a history of more than 200 years. It has a lotus-pond, shaped like a 'vEl' (thAmaraik kuLam). A natural spring is within it (saravaNap poigai). There is a belief that the six maidens ('KArthigai pengaL' from the Kandha-PurANam) have enjoyed bathing here.

It is a belief that Kumaran (Lord Murugan) resides in all places with hills. In this concept, the local construction company, MDR Bina (M) Sdn Bhd., generously provided funding of MYR 1.8 million, towards the construction of the temple with several special features.

There is a 35 feet tall sculpture of Lord Murugan and also a 75 feet tall 'vEl'.

The first consecration ceremony - 'kumbAbishEgam', was held on 19th Feb 2016.
